Enhancing Glassdoor Presence: Boosting Applicants and Diversifying Demographics

Overview

A five-year-old series C startup, with around 100 employees, faced challenges with its Glassdoor reviews. They lacked sufficient and relevant feedback, hindering their recruitment process, especially in terms of diversity, particularly focusing on gender and race in tech and development roles.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was the scarcity of relevant and recent Glassdoor reviews, impeding the company's ability to provide comprehensive information to potential recruits, especially concerning diversity in tech roles.

The Rise Journey Strategy

The Rise Journey strategy focused on incentivizing employees to write reviews by offering compensation without imposing content restrictions. Over four to five months, employees were periodically encouraged to submit reviews with the incentive of $10 Amazon gift cards for the first three submissions. The emphasis was on obtaining timely and relevant content reflecting current experiences within the organization. Additionally, the Glassdoor profile was updated with comprehensive information, resources, images, and links.

The Results

The strategy led to a 60% increase in Glassdoor rating, doubled applicants, and significant increases in candidates providing demographic data, particularly in female applicants for tech roles. Additionally, there was a 24% rise in CEO approval rating.
