Hispanic heritage contains a diverse range of identities, but one facet of Latinidad that doesn't get a lot of visibility is the LGBTQIA+ community. Through the storytelling of personal experiences and quantitative research, this conversation allows us to explore and reflect on the intricacies of the Latino/Hispanic/Latinx/Latine community (including ethnic, cultural, and racial identities) and its relation to identifying as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. In this training, you’ll discover:

  • Unpack what it means to approach Latinx experiences through the framework of queerness and transness

  • Understand what are the most pressing concerns at the intersection of queer, trans, and Latinx identities and how that has changed over time

  • Dissect the complexities of the Spanish language and how that influences expression of gender, sexuality, and identity
